About the Exhibition

Willie Birch (b. 1942, New Orleans, LA) created a four-paneled painting depicting people relaxing in everyday life. Between trees and benches, a man is depicted pushing his bicycle while in the background two children play a game of ball.

Birch’s wall painting is among those featured at the Park and Recreation Department’s 1984 Mini Pool Olympics held on August 28, 1984. During the summer of 1983, the wall painting was installed at the Forest Houses Area, Bronx, and moved to the Castle Hill Playground/Mini pool, Bronx, during the summesr 1984 and 1985.
